Megan & Ryan wed at The D.A.C. (Diamond Alumni Center, S.F.U.)
Meg & Ryan were such a fun couple to work with. They never stopped smiling all day long… and into the wee hours of the morning. I think they were the last 2 to leave the reception. We incorporated Meg’s green apple theme from beginning to end. Green flowers, green apple centerpieces, I was happy to create their custom seating plan, tables were named after apples, the bride & her mom made apple chutney and apple sauce for the favors, green apple martinis were served as the guests arrived for the reception, YUMMY … and green apples were displayed at their ceremony as well. Elegant black and white: chair covers, sashes and table runners finished the look. Meg wisely decided a few months before their wedding day to avoid the stress of worrying about the unpredictible summer weather at her outdoor ceremony site. We were happy to decorate the lower floor at the D.A.C. with: white fabric swags above the altar area, feature apple arrangements, glowing glass hurricane lanterns, an aisle runner with green rose petals, and programs with green accent ribbon. The wedding day dawned sunny and bright… and the ceremony was beautiful inside. The bridal party was drop dead gorgeous… and yes the guys too!!!
I highly recommend The Diamond Alumni Center to everyone. The views from the rooms are fantastic overlooking Burrard Inlet, the staff is wonderful and accomodating, the food is delicious and the rates are extremely favorable. S.F.U. is my alma mater… and the venue brings back such fond memories of my years happily spent on the top of Burnaby Mountain while achieving my two degrees.
Celebrity sighting: I had gone over the seating plan and the guest lists many many times and even created the seating plan… & I never even clued in, until….in they walked.
Uncle Barry/Master of Ceremonies; Uncle of the Bride, is famous Canadian actor, Barry Flatman. He brought his steady gal, Jeanne Beker. Jeanne is a Canadian Fashion ICON!!!. I love her show, and have watched it for years. I looked up while setting up the guest book table and in they walked…Gosh I hope my mouth didn’t drop open. I happily fixed her camera with some duct tape and never blinked an eye. They were lovely and enjoyed their time with family and friends.
