Apple of My Eye

Megan & Ryan wed at The D.A.C.   (Diamond Alumni Center, S.F.U.)

Meg & Ryan were such a fun couple to work with. They never stopped smiling all day long… and into the wee hours of the morning.  I think they were the last 2 to leave the reception.   We incorporated Meg’s green apple theme from beginning to end.  Green flowers, green apple centerpieces,  I was happy to create their custom seating plan, tables were named after apples, the bride & her mom made apple chutney and apple sauce for the favors, green apple martinis were served as the guests arrived for the reception, YUMMY … and green apples were displayed at their ceremony as well.  Elegant black and white: chair covers, sashes and table runners finished the look.   Meg wisely decided a few months before their wedding day to avoid the stress of worrying about the unpredictible summer weather at her outdoor ceremony site.  We were happy to decorate the lower floor at the D.A.C. with:  white fabric swags above the altar area,  feature apple arrangements, glowing glass hurricane lanterns, an aisle runner with green rose petals, and programs with green accent ribbon.  The wedding day dawned sunny and bright… and the ceremony was beautiful inside.  The bridal party was drop dead gorgeous… and yes the guys too!!!

I highly recommend The Diamond Alumni Center to everyone.  The views from the rooms are fantastic overlooking Burrard Inlet, the staff is wonderful and accomodating, the food is delicious and the rates are extremely favorable.  S.F.U. is my alma mater… and the venue brings back such fond memories of my years happily spent on the top of Burnaby Mountain while achieving my two degrees.

Celebrity sighting:  I had gone over the seating plan and the guest lists many many times and even created the seating plan… & I never even clued in, until….in they walked.

Uncle Barry/Master of Ceremonies; Uncle of the Bride,  is famous Canadian actor, Barry Flatman.  He brought his steady gal, Jeanne Beker.  Jeanne is a Canadian Fashion ICON!!!.  I love her show, and have watched it for years.  I looked up while setting up the guest book table and in they walked…Gosh I hope my mouth didn’t drop open.   I happily fixed her camera with some duct tape and never blinked an eye.  They were lovely and enjoyed their time with family and friends.

The hottest bridesmaids ever!!!

Beautiful Burgundy

Helena & Ray celebrated their marriage in classic style with an intimate wedding at Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club.  Helena choose a beautiful all rose theme, focusing on burgundy, ivory and classic red.  These colors perfectly complimented her complexion, her beautiful dress and the lovely champagne bridesmaid dress color.  Here are a few pics of their April wedding.  Congrats.

A mix of all red roses for the bridesmaid.

Classic all roses for the bride.

Spring Wedding. The bride loved red!

Elisa loved red.  Red can be challenging for spring weddings.  After all it is spring, and red is not the color we usually associate with spring.  BUT, Elisa loved red and it was her color.  It was my pleasure to incorporate Elisas love of red & create a spring celebration. By designing her bouquets, ceremony & reception flowers with spring tulips, curly willow, pussy willows, elegant white calla lilies, freesia, green orchids, and red berries, I was able to accomplish both.  As the bridesmaids were in red dresses, their bouquets were predominately white with just an accent of red. Thus they showed up against the red fabric and tied into all of the other floral elements.

Colors: red, white & green

Theme: spring, red & elegant

Ceremony location: Emmaus Lutheran Church, Burnaby

Reception location: Pitt Meadows Golf Club

Here is a collection of pics I took of Elisa & Ricks wedding day.  Florals, decor, chair covers & sashes all supplied by From The Heart Florals & Decor.

Spring tulips always look divine in the hanging glass vases we used to decorate the aisle.

I love the look of spring tulips in the hanging glass tulips we used to embellish the aisle.

How adorable is grandma with her corsage and her beautiful suit.

For centerpieces, the bride chose one of our very popular square vases with a green orchid, berries, grass and votive candles.

The aisle flowers were re-purposed into vases and displayed on the bar, guest book table and as an extra special touch in the ladies room.

Gotta love the look on the brides face. "Whaaaat another picture!!!"

Spring Weddings…. a retrospective.

I love spring!

I love the winter but only when it is really cold and snowy, then I am happy to stay at home where there is lots of warmth, coffee and cuddle with my dog.

But I do so love the spring!  Love to hear the birds, can’t wait to get out and putter about in the garden.  Love the sunshine!!!!  Yeah vitamin D.  I love all my cherry blossoms, letting me know that the summer will bring a huge crop of luscious black juicy cherries.  And, Yes of course, I love spring weddings.  I LOVE TULIPS!!!

Here are a few pics of spring weddings past.  I thought it would be fun to have a look back.

Jen & her bridesmaid

My exotic Kiwi bride from New Zealand.  Jen & Richard married at the very cute little heritage church at Burnaby Village Museum.  After the ceremony they strolled in the spring sunshine over to Hart House for a glorious afternoon luncheon.  Hart House is one of my all time favorite locations for a really beautiful location, and divine cuisine.

An abundance of beautiful pink tulips in a hand tied bridal bouquet. Tulips are readily available from Dec. to May.  They are usually a great option for spring flowers and help keep a budget intact.

I was so happy to be asked to create the flowers for Carries spring wedding, especially after doing the same for her sister the year before.  Here is a pic of Carrie as she arrives at the church before the ceremony.  Unfortunately it is the only pic I can find from her wedding, ’cause I was having a ‘bad camera’ day! Yup, I have those fairly frequently…. no batteries, dead batteries… and long before the days of digital I usually would run out of film. ”

Any way… back to her flowers… an abundance of spring blooms featuring mixed soft spring colors with just a hit of dark pink…tulips, green orchids, white/pink/peach/dk. pink etc. roses, stephanotis, freesia & lisianthus, framed with soft poppy leaves.

Cherry Blossoms in Bloom

Hiroko’s spring wedding was held in The Pacific Palisades Hotel, Vancouver.   ”Unfortunately the hotel will soon be torn down and turned into apartments. Too bad; it was an awesome hotel; with a great location and great food.”   Not wishing to risk the chance of spring showers the ceremony was held inside where we created a cherry blossom arch and lined the aisle with thousands of pink petals.

The bride in a reflective moment prior to the ceremony.

The bride chose large glass bowls with floating fuchsia gerbera & matching fuchsia glass votives for centerpieces.

I was very intrigued by all of the intricate wedding cards sent from Japan.

Swan-e-set Wedding

Tiffany & Robert married at Swan-e-set Resort in Pitt Meadows on a beautiful sunny day.  Tiffany and her mother spent months planning and organizing.  Looking for a stress free event, they left all of the final floral & decor details to the creative talents of Lynn and her efficient team. We took care of the set up, and late night take down… from fresh personal flowers, ceremony flowers, arch to reception flowers, centerpieces & romantic candlelight.  The bride and groom enjoyed a stress free day and were able to celebrate with friends and family in relaxed style.

Colors: black, green & white

Design Inspiration: clean & elegant

Here are some pictures from their perfect day.

Jennifer & Dan married on an absolutely brilliant, sunny winter day.

The groom, and his family from Australia, were very impressed with the dry sunny Vancouver winter weather.  SSSHHH we didn’t want to tell them that this was a rare day indeed! We incorporated family tartan into Jen’s bouquet by wrapping the stems, and used seasonal red tulips, berries, green mini orchids and timeless red roses.  Vintage Minoru Chapel in Richmond was the ceremony site.  The reception was held at Seasons in the Park where everyone celebrated in the warmth of happy family and friends.  There was an abundance of  glowing candlelight, superb cuisine and absolutely breathtaking views on a perfect crystal clear nite.        “Thank you to Sandi for these stunning images.”

Classic Elegance

Elegance Personified

Tiffany chose an all white mini calla bridal bouquet.  This classic & simple design is very elegant & truly timeless.  It was the perfect bouquet to complement her gorgeous lace dress which was embellished with a beautiful crystal brooch.
